Don't Get Lost was fully recorded and produced at Anton Newcombe's new Cobra Studio in Berlin. It is the 16th full length release from The Brian Jonestown Massacre. It was recorded from March 2016 to October 2016 with band members Ricky Maymi, Dan Allaire, Collin Hegna, and Ryan Van Kriedt. Saxophonist Emil Nikolaisen, from the Norwegian band Serena-Maneesh, joins the band, and there are vocal performances from Tim Burgess (Charlatans), Tess Parks, and Shaun Rivers. A new dynamic is heard on Don't Get Lost, mixing a shoegaze and psychedelic sound with more experimental twists on some tracks you might hear from Public Image Limited's Metalbox (1979), Primal Scream , or even Ornette Coleman. 14 tracks that will twist-and-turn through the known, and the unknown, Brian Jonestown Massacre. Anton Newcombe has been a very busy man these past two years, kicking off with the critically acclaimed Brian Jonestown Massacre album Revelation in May 2014 (AUK 030CD/LP). After a successful UK and European tour, the BJM followed this up with the + - EP in November of the same year (AUK 031EP). 2015 saw the release of Musique de film imaginé in April (AUK 032CD/LP); an imaginary film soundtrack album featuring the track "Bonbon" which has, ironically, been used in Dheepan, the Palme d'Or winner at the Cannes Film Festival of 2015. VIROT, FRANCOIS: Marginal Spots CD (BORNBAD 090CD)

French musician François Virot present his second solo album, Marginal Spots, following his acclaimed 2008 debut, Yes Or No. That album's lo-fi pop-folk won Virot praise for his staggering melodies and nervous urgency, earning comparisons to artists like Animal Collective. In the wake of its reception, Virot found himself dragged out of the invisibility of Lyon's squats and rushed hastily on stage. He was expected to give his opinion, but no one realized how unprepared he was. He had crafted his songs for himself, the hard way -- for such a hyperactive artist, versed in songwriting since childhood, naiveté was not a ploy, and DIY is not a fancy gadget. As Virot recalls, "The first time they dimmed the lights at one of my concerts, I didn't understand what was going on. I came on stage, everyone cheered. I needed to change a string, so I said so, and the crowd answered by applauding once again. I changed my string, I finished my beer, 10 minutes had passed, the lights were still on me. People found the scene delightful, they were laughing hysterically. For me, it was hell. There have been many moments such as this one." Two years after his debut, in 2010, Virot appeared on the credits of two of the most beautiful records of the year. The first, Comfortable Problems by the trio the Clara Clara, put to shame every claimant to Deerhoof's throne, with Virot showcasing his rowdy yet precise drumming skills and chanting in a world somewhere between happy hardcore and subtle power pop. The second, Time And Death by the duo Reveille, was as touching, addictive, and imperfect as a collection of demos from The Evens. Now, following the 2016 release of Clara Clara's third album, Bugarach, Virot returns to his solo work with an album that is as much a realization of his obsessions (colorful drums, catchy but devious melodies, referential tangles including The Police, The Ex, Joe Dassin . . .) as a declaration of independence from indie pop laws. As Virot puts it, "Lately I haven't been able to find any record without reverb effects, or a band that doesn't use a chorus pedal or some recorded material live. It annoyed me. Music-making should not be about composing the most beautiful thing there is. You need to catch a glimpse of what's inside, hear an actual human being sing and play." Marginal Spots is François Virot at his core, oblivious to the illusion of success, directly plugged into his heartbeat.

In today's increasingly barren rock and roll landscape, Ulan Bator stand as beacons of explorative songwriting. Formed in Paris in 1993 by Amaury Cambuzat (vocals, guitar and keyboards) and Olivier Manchion (bass), the band's atmospheric approach to composition has consistently yielded guitar-driven, avant-rock at once hypnotic and untamed. And while their sound has developed in a variety of directions - often in relationship to changing line-ups and various collaborations, including with Faust and Swans' Michael Gira - Ulan Bator resist simple categorization: kraut-y repetition, post-rock guitar flourishes and kosmische synth work have all taken an audible lead throughout their now twenty-year career. Stereolith sees band mainstay Cambuzat continuing on in a tradition of experimental rock and roll, projected through a contemporary prism of electronics and synthesizers. Cambuzat pieced together the band's 12th album on his laptop before eventually re-recording individual parts in the studio. The result is a crisp sound that resists typical psych and experimental clichés of washed-out and contourless improvisation. The songs on Stereolith achieve a grand, looming presence despite their relatively short lengths. While Stereolith's longest and most obvious genre-nod "NeuNeu" clocks at a pleasantly meandering five-and-half minutes and features guitar work reminiscent of Michael Rother, most of the songs are under four, with dream-like atmospheres established from the beginning. An excellent example is "Blue Girl", which opens with deep sustained piano, gongs, and industrial bleeps before exploding into a playful post rock groove that plays off Popol Vuh-like synth vamps. That quality continues on album standout "Ego Trip", sung by Cambuzat in both French and English. The song's various melodies - played on harpischord, chorus bass, guitar - shift over a steady chord progression to create a glorious interweaving. Cambuzat's non-native approach to writing in English, like that of Björk or Damo Suzuki, borders on the surreal. "I lost myself in a spinach can," he murmurs on "Spinach Can", evoking a lysergic-tinged scene from an episode of Popeye. By the end of the slow, dirge-like final bursts of album closer "Dust", it becomes clear that in Cambuzat's world, the dark, the light and the strange are comfortable bedfellows. It's an atmospheric ménages-a-trois that occasionally pushes beyond the boundaries of taste and coolness into vaguely new-age-y and adult contemporary territory. XAO SEFFCHEQUE: Ja - Nein - Vielleicht Kommt Sehr Gut: A Selection Of Electronic Beats 1980-82 CD (BB 256CD)

Austrian national Xaõ Seffcheque was at the right place at the right time: Düsseldorf at the end of the '70s was not only the nucleus of German punk, but it also enjoyed a fruitful symbiosis with the parallel development of a synthesizer-supported side-line. However, in historical retrospective, forty years after the punk big-bang and 35 years after the electronic substitute-revolution in Germany, there is the question: What impact did Palais Schaumburg, Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft, Liaisons Dangereuses or Der Plan expect from their music? Objet d'art? Material for archaeologists? Xaõ Seffcheque's music - same, but different later on with Family*5 - was all that and more: Always great everyday stuff to listen to is still the object of engagement and discourse because of its impact and the marks it left behind. This compilation, Xaõ Seffcheque's electronic phase in the early '80s from both his albums Sehr Gut Kommt Sehr Gut (1981) and Ja - Nein - Vielleicht (1981), plus unreleased tracks from 1982, comes in two parts: The songs of Sehr Gut Kommt Sehr Gut are always satire, persiflage, paraphrase altogether: Reflecting his contemporaries with '80s analog equipment, this discourse always adds something new and unheard of. The fact that Seffcheque released that (fake) album as an anticipation of the Neue Deutsche Welle sell-out did shape those songs audibly by deconstructing the music of essential German bands at that time in order to reassemble them in a very sarcastic way and into a whole new context. Whereas the following album, Ja - Nein - Vielleicht was of a very different kind and Diederich Diederichsen, the pope-of-pop, had this to say about Seffcheque's sequencer-meets-jazz-onomatopoetic-scat-vocals-meet-guitar-riffs in Sounds Magazine: "Xaõ Seffcheque has made his first music-record without any jokes, quotations and 'Kulturkritik'. Music instead of cabaret. A lot of Düsseldorf 'negro-music' with an excellent brass section and vocal effects: A winningly distorted Louis Armstrong song, a modern march-funk-pogo piece with scat vocals of a digital age, ethereous, intense experiments (in the title song Xao pleases with foreign stammering and in 'Du Und Ich' with a girls choir from the next best solar system. In brief: a very modern record bordering on rock and disco. Defiant. Sorrowful. Tough." Bureau B present here a restored and remastered compilation of Xao's best songs from his solo phase. DOME LA MUERTE E.X.P.: Lazy Sunny Day CD (CNGOD 101CD)

Dome La Muerte E.X.P. is the new project of Dome La Muerte, aka Domenico Petrosino. Cult character and guru of Italian rock n' roll, Dome was a founding member in 1979 of the Italian precursors of hardcore-punk, CCM (Cheetah Chrome Motherfuckers). In the '80s, he was in the band Not Moving and then, in the following decade, he played in Hush and he composed tracks that ended up in the Italian cyberpunk science fiction film directed by Gabriele Salvatores, Nirvana (1997). To understand his caliber, he has shared the stage with The Clash, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Johnny Thunders's Heartbreakers, The Fuzztones and Iggy Pop. This new project is the son of his first solo recording experience Poems For Renegades (2011), which contained a highly psychedelic-folk matrix; they were thrown as the first seeds for Lazy Sunny Day (or more briefly, LSD), produced by Cinedelic and Godown records. Lazy Sunny Day, unlike Poems For Renegades, was recorded and arranged with a band, E.X.P.. The sound is mostly instrumental and it's lysergically inspired by spaghetti western soundtracks, the beat generation, India, the hippie movement, and expansion of consciousness, comes with a deep respect and admiration to the culture and spirituality of Native Americans. The formation of E.X.P., with Dome La Muerte on guitar and vocals, includes: Luca Valdambrini (organ, guitar, backing vocals) from Surfer Joe And His Boss Combo and Pam And Pipelines, where he also played bass and contributed backing vocals as Alessandro Quaglierini, and Emiliano Giuliani (drums) formerly of Liars and a member of the original line-up of The Diggers. Also features: Lu Silver - harp on "L.S.D. (Little Sun Dose)"; Cristina Rovini - flute on "Amsterdam 66". "Sick City" was written by Charles Manson; "Eternal Door" was written by Not Moving.

Trepaneringsritualen's long out of print debut release, Deathward, To The Womb (2012) finally sees a proper reissue. An invocation not so much of Babalon herself, but of the tormented elemental of Frater T.O.P.A.N., and his fervent attempts to usher in the Æon of Horus. In the lyrics - based on the texts of Frater T.O.P.A.N. on the Babalon Working - the perilous flame that is Babalon is called upon to ravage creation. She is asked to scorch the earth clean for the coming cosmic renovation. The Eternal Virgin would spring from Her womb. From Her love, the new divine man would be born. 70 years after the Bablon Working was deemed successfully concluded, its utter failure is painfully apparent. "All love songs are of me" She says. This is certainly true of the first five songs of Deathward, To The Womb. The final songs, "All Hail The Black Flame", seem different altogether. In this guise, Babalon brings not solely love, but cataclysm; a holocaust brought upon the domain of Man. Manifested as the Black Flame, She reaches from a time before time, formless chaos, and rips apart the very fabric of the created worlds. Such is Her nature: two opposing principles; that of the nurturing mother, and that of the callous destroyer. "She is flame of life, power of darkness - She destroys with a glance - She may take thy soul. She feeds upon the death of men." Babalon was summoned at Winter Solstice 2015 under the sign of n, with assistance from Alone In The Hollow Garden, A.I.L of Arktau Eos, Michael Idehall, KzR of Bölzer, Nÿland ii of Hadewych, and Æther. To destroy and to give life. This ritual has concluded and was successful. Even the artwork reflects the path marked by the sound of the album, inspired by ancient and timeless symbols and iconography, by alchemical sigils of divination cards, yet with an original and identifying style. It all came from an idea from Stefania Pedretti, translated by the hands of Coito Negato, aka Stefano Matteoli, a Tuscan illustrator and frequent collaborator with Dio Drone. For the release, OvO bet on the recently established label, which best represents the new and contemporary way of making noise and the new way of "do it yourself". OvO find themselves at the beginning of their seventeenth year of activity with very clear ideas and a will to surf a fluid contemporary state, raising new complexities and refusing to conform. The only thing which remains undismayed is their live appearances; The band are on the brink of thousands of concerts all over the world. Creatura was recorded by Lorenzo Stecconi in a barn normally used by theater companies and mixed by the testosteronic hands of Giulio Favero and polished off with mastering by Giovanni Versari. In addition to vocals and guitar, Stefania Pedretti also captured some field recordings during OvO's tour in Vietnam. Bruno Dorella took on his usual role of playing his few pieces of drums, synth and drum machine programming and samples assembled by Dorella and Garaliya (or rather Morkobot), Riccardo Gamondi (Uochi Toki), Stefano Ghittoni (Dining Rooms), a034 and Reeks (Surgical Beat Bros, No Hay Banda Trio, Germanotta Youth). In composing the pieces, OvO used some of the methodologies of electronic music. In particular, all of the base tracks of percussion and samples were first played live and then resampled, choosing loops in such a way as to reproduce the mechanical aspect typical of electronica. On top of this, Stefania added her infernal world of guitar and voice, dividing both into many layers with diverse overdubs to create this monster.

Ecstatic resuscitate Daniele Ciullini's "sonic polaroids" of odder '80s pop, drone, and drum machine workouts in the detached dimensions of Domestic Exile: Collected Works 82-86. Compiling the Florentine artist's standout '83 cassette plus a whole other side of compilation obscurities on vinyl for the first time, it presents a series of brilliant, isolated self-portraits by a mail art and tape scene insider (also photographer, zine publisher) who operated on the periphery of electro-industrial and ambient zones. His music is little known outside of Italy, so all credit is due to Alessio Natalizia for bringing his wide-ranging and prescient work to a broader audience here. As Ciullini's pal and bandmate in The Cop Killers (along with Masami Akita, no less), Vittore Baroni states on the liner notes that Domestic Exile was produced when Ciullini was in his late 20s and therefore possesses a more measured, mature approach than many of his contemporaries who were also scrabbling around similar sounds. Using the instantly identifiable Boss DR-55 and Roland TR 606 drum machines, plus a 303, Fender Stratocaster Electric, and Yamaha CD-5 fed direct to TEAC tape deck, these are beautifully concise, dynamic glimpses of a sharpened mind at work, proving equally adept at nipping shifty industrial drum patterns as well as brooding proto-shoegaze with "Soft Marble", or European synth expressions like "Flowers in the Water". Following Azymuth's recent album Fênix (FARO 194CD/LP 2016), Far Out Recordings announce the release of a 12" reissue of two of the Brazilian mavericks' heaviest dance cuts, remastered from the original Outubro (FARO 190CD/LP) tapes. Alex Malheiros's earth-shaking slap bass in the first few seconds of "Dear Limmertz" makes up an iconic moment in jazz-funk history. The groundbreaking disco hit "Jazz Carnival" is one of their heftiest floor fillers, and is also one of the trio's most recognized tunes. "Maracana" is another super-heavy jazz-funk belter encompassing Ivan 'Mamao' Conti's signature swing, backing Jose Roberto Bertrami's effortlessly slick keyboard harmonies.

"Mark Dagley, although largely focusing on his visual art for the last many years, is a musician whose work has always intrigued us. Nick Steven Oliveri from Palm Desert, California, is most widely known as a bassist with Kyuss, Queens Of The Stone Age, and The Dwarves, and has also performed with the reunited Kyuss under the names Kyuss Lives! and Vista Chino. As a bandleader, his main project is Mondo Generator, a punk/metal hybrid that he formed in 1997. Oliveri began his career in 1987 with John Garcia, Brant Bjork, Josh Homme and Chris Cockrell, with the band Katzenjammer. In early 1989, after Oliveri's departure to play in other bands, the band would change its name to Sons Of Kyuss, later shortening the name to Kyuss. He later rejoined the band, playing on Wretch (1991) and Blues For The Red Sun (1992). Oliveri would leave Kyuss again in early 1992, shortly after his father died in a car accident. He joined The Dwarves as an on-again-off-again bassist under the moniker Rex Everything. However, he is perhaps best known as a member of Queens Of The Stone Age from 1998 -2004. Oliveri is also a solo artist and frequent contributor to his friends' albums and tours, including Winnebago Deal, Mark Lanegan Band, Masters Of Reality, Turbonegro, Moistboyz, and The Knives.
